CHEVY CHASE, MARYLAND – With the renovation of its Montgomery Village Plaza retail center now complete, shopping center leasing, management and development company JBG Rosenfeld Retail (JBGR) announced today that it recently finalized leases totaling nearly 10,000 square feet with five new tenants, launching the 23-year-old property to almost 100% occupancy.  The new tenants include video game retailer GameStop and Image Sun Tanning, as well as Vietnamese restaurant Pho & Grill, locally owned and operated Peruvian charbroiled chicken chain Crisp & Juicy, and Mayhan Kabob, a Middle Eastern restaurant, which opened earlier this summer.

“The residents of Montgomery Village, and the larger Gaithersburg community, have relied on the convenience and accessibility of Montgomery Village Plaza since the mid-80s,” said JBGR Vice President Carter Davis.  “With the renovation now complete, plus the addition of these new tenants, we’ve further added value for the longtime customers and hope the results attract new ones, as well. We are confident that each of the new tenants will find success at the center.”  GameStop and Image Sun Tanning each will occupy space in the 3,800 square-foot pad building adjacent to Wendy’s near Lost Knife Road, while the restaurant tenants are situated on the side of the center anchored by Trader Joe’s.  All are expected to open during the first quarter of 2009.

Located at the intersection of Lost Knife and Contour Roads behind Lakeforest Mall, Montgomery Village Plaza is a 116,000 square-foot community shopping center anchored by specialty grocer Trader Joe’s and discount clothier Marshalls.  The center, built in 1985, also is home to more than 20 other service and specialty retailers, including Dollar Tree, Jennifer Convertibles, Family Christian Stores, Rent-A-Center, and others.  JBGR acquired Montgomery Village Plaza in 2004 and completed the renovation efforts earlier this year, which included a full façade transformation, new signage for the stores, a new color scheme, pylon sign, and roofing, as well as repavement of the parking field.

Based in Chevy Chase, Maryland, JBG Rosenfeld Retail specializes in the leasing, development, acquisition, construction, and management of retail properties throughout the mid-Atlantic region.  Currently, JBGR holds more than 30 shopping centers, nine freestanding store sites, and numerous mixed-use retail sites in its portfolio.  For more information on the full scope of the company’s services, call (301) 657-0700 or visit www.jbgr.com.
