CHEVY CHASE, MARYLAND – One of JBG Rosenfeld Retail’s (JBGR) longtime tenant representation clients, Sakura Japanese Restaurant, is expanding its presence in the Washington, DC area once again, having recently committed to opening a new, 8,700 square-foot restaurant at Federal Realty’s Pike 7 Plaza in Tysons Corner.   The restaurant, scheduled to open in early 2007, will be the thirteenth location for the concept in the metropolitan Baltimore/Washington area. Sakura also has four locations outside of the market, including the Jersey shore, Ocean City, Maryland, Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville.

“Sakura’s combination of good food and entertainment continues to appeal to individuals and families all over the area,” said JBGR Executive Vice President Bob Schwenger.  “We are certain this new restaurant, though not scheduled to open for another year, will be a welcome addition to the Tysons Corner area for residents and visitors, alike.”  The new Pike 7 Plaza restaurant will be the second largest for Sakura in the metropolitan Washington area, modeled after the concept’s 9,000 square-foot prototype restaurant at the Charles County Plaza in Waldorf.

Located at the intersection of Routes 7 and 123 in Tysons Corner, Pike 7 Plaza is a 162,000 square-foot shopping center owned and managed by Federal Realty Investment Trust of Rockville, Maryland.  The Staples-anchored center also features T.J. Maxx, Tower Records, Gold’s Gym, Tweeter, Kinko’s, Panera Bread, Starbucks, and a variety of other service retailers.  Sakura’s new restaurant will be situated next to Doctor’s on Sight, between Tweeter and Staples.

Sakura Japanese Restaurant features a wide variety of Japanese cuisine, marrying great-tasting foods with wholesome entertainment.  The menu features many varieties of made-to-order sushi and hibachi grill-style dishes designed to provide a unique and pleasant dining experience.  JBGR has been the exclusive tenant representative for the chain since March 2000.
